The Star-Warriors of Orion are a fictional species created by August Derleth and Mark Schorer for their short story "The Lair of the Star-Spawn".
Description[]
The Star-Warriors are giant luminous beings which dwell among the stars of the Orion Belt and serve the Elder Gods. They have six flailing appendages described as "similar to arms, yet not arms", and ride through the sky mounted on limbless animals. The tube-like weapons they carry with them, supplied by their masters, fire destructive beams of energy that can harm even the Great Old Ones. (AWD: "The Lair of the Star-Spawn")
In Other Media[]
- The Star-Warriors appear in the trading card game Z/X Zillions of enemy X.
- The Star-Warriors appear in the Demonbane Mythos by Nitroplus, as sentient weapons created by the Elder Gods.
- The Ultra Heroes from the Ultra Series strongly resemble the description of the Star-Warriors, including the ability to shoot energy beams at monstrous creatures and their home planet being located in the same constellation. Although this was most likely coincidental, the Ultra Series has directly referenced the Cthulhu Mythos many times over the years, most notably in Ultraman Tiga.
