This subject contains information from the "Lovecraft Circle" Myth Cycles, and while guided by HPL are not based on his work alone. Sthanee is a Great Old One created by the late American author Robert A. W. Lowndes.

Description

Manifesting as a gigantic marine horror with twelve serpentine limbs equipped with suckers similar to those found on an octopus, Sthanee also has a beard of tentacles. It is served by a vicious race of merfolk known as the Children of Sthanee who worship it as a god.

Behind the Mythos

Sthanee is mentioned in Robert A. W. Lowndes' short poem "Nyaghoggua" (1941), but its physical appearance was first depicted in the pages of Lowndes' comic book feature "When Sthanee Wakes" (pp. 32-33) which was published in Scienti-Comics #2.
