"The Ancient Track" is a Cthulhu Mythos poem by the late American horror author Howard Phillips Lovecraft.
Synopsis[]
The two fairly lengthy stanzas describe the narrator's journey along a sinister and seemingly-abandoned pathway. At one point, it is mentioned that there is a sign posted which claims "Two miles to Dunwich", but whether the track leads to or from there, or merely passes it by, is unclear.
Publication History[]
"The Ancient Track" was first published in the March 1930 edition of pulp magazine Weird Tales. It has since been reprinted a multitude of times, and has even been translated into French.
