"The Bride of the Yellow King" is a short Cthulhu Mythos story by Canadian author Troy Young. It is the fifth instalment of Book 3 in his Nyarlathotep Cycle.
Synopsis[]
As Mayweather drops into a coma from the effects of his cancer, Hines sets off on a rogue mission to confront the fears of her past: to destroy a cell of cultists of Hastur.
Travelling to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, she attempts to tackle the small family of cultists but is quickly overpowered and prepared as a vessel for the children of Hastur. She manages to escape her bonds and kill the human vessel inhabited by the essence of the Great Old One, and is aided in her escape by a group of silent Mi-Go, presumably in service to Hastur's enemy, Nyarlathotep. The aliens pass her a mysterious artefact containing an enormous amount of Eldritch energy before disappearing into the night.
During the debrief with Harjit Singh at the Department of Extraordinary Phenomena, Mayweather is found to have recovered considerably, and is speculated to have received assistance in the battle against his disease from none other than Nyarlathotep, and Adele Kramer suddenly awakens.
