"The Dark Brotherhood" is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft and August Derleth. One of the controversial "posthumous collaborations" between the two, it was in fact written almost entirely by the latter, based on a fragment by the former.
Synopsis[]
A pair of friends whose habit is to explore the city by night meet a mysterious stranger who appears to share their enjoyment of after-dark walks. As their relationship develops, the woman is beguiled by the stranger's charm while the man uncovers a cult who are scheming to draw something deadly to Earth.
Publication History[]
"The Dark Brotherhood" was first published in the collection The Dark Brotherhood and Other Pieces by Arkham House in 1966.
