Lovecraft's works directly. "The Ghulistan Affair" is a short Cthulhu Mythos story by author Sam Inabinet, first published in the Ulthar Press anthology Pickman's Gallery in 2018.

Synopsis[]

The story is for the most part a conversation between two men, implied to be special agents in the employ of the British government, on the state of affairs regarding the various non-human humanoid creatures which inhabit a vague geographical region incorporating India to Central Asia. In particular, their discourse revolves around an ill-fated expedition to an area known as the Land of Ghouls, and their ultimate realisation that one of the few survivors was, most likely, a ghoul himself.

The story concludes with what appears to be noises of an attack on their safe house, and the implication that ghoul footsoldiers have come to wipe out all those who know of their existence.

Behind the Mythos[]

One of the names mentioned by the men in connection with their topic is Swami Chandraputra, although both confess to having been an able to find anyone with knowledge on who that may be.
