The Summoning of the Old Ones: A Three-Part Lovecraftian Tale is a short collection of Lovecraftian fiction by American author Jeffrey Thomas. It was published in December 2019 by Forma Street Press, with both paperback and digital editions made available [1].
Set in Thomas's dystopian sci-fi setting of Punktown, the three stories contained within form a continuous narrative, describing the rebirth of a monstrous alien god named Ugghiutu, and the efforts of the local population to fight back.
Overview[]

Behind the Mythos[]
Despite being the last in the series, "Wunderwaffe" was in fact the first to be published; the first two stories were originally intended to be included in the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game supplement Punktown as flavour pieces, but unforeseen delays in the release of that book resulted in the unusual release schedule [3].
Trivia[]
- The image used on the front cover was created by Tithi Luadthong and obtained for commercial use through Shutterstock [4]. In 2021, it was reused as the cover art for David Conyers' collection Cthulhu Unmasked and credited to "grandfailure" [5], a publishing alias used by Luadthong [6]; Jeffrey Thomas also provided the cover blurb for that book.
