"The Tattered Lady" is a short Cthulhu Mythos story by Canadian author Troy Young. It is the sixth episode in his Nyarlathotep Cycle.
Synopsis[]
Department of Extraordinary Phenomena field agents Malcolm Mayweather and Mindy Nguyen are assigned to investigate the mass disappearance of homeless people in Winnipeg, Canada. There, they discover that an entity named the Tattered Lady has been abducting the street people and infecting them with a supernatural contagion in preparation for unleashing them en masse on an unsuspecting population.
Although Mayweather and Nguyen are ultimately able to destroy the Tattered Lady, Mindy is infected with the plague and asks her partner to kill her. In the aftermath, the Department is forced to destroy an entire residential block - and all of its occupants - to ensure the disease is contained.
