This subject is written on a topic in the real world and reflects factual information. This subject contains information from the Expanded Cthulhu Mythos, and not based on H.P. Lovecraft's works directly. "The Thing from the Blasted Heath" is a Cthulhu Mythos story by Brian Lumley that first appeared in his collection The Caller of The Black  (Arkham House, 1971).

Lumley says it was written in September 1967 "as an homage to HPL, and to the Mythos." Lumley calls the story a sequel to, "The Colour Out of Space," his favourite Lovecraft story, and his all-time favourite horror story--even though, as he points out, it "isn't a Mythos story".[1]

The "thing" of the title is a mutant shrub from the shores of the Arkham Reservoir. Planted in his garden, it wreaks horrific changes.
