𝓦𝐓 "The Tomb-Spawn" is a short fantasy piece by American author and Lovecraft contemporary Clark Ashton Smith. It forms part of his Zothique Cycle series of stories.

Synopsis[]

Two brothers on the future continent of Zothique are on the run from a pack of ferocious Ghorii. In their hunt for water and sanctuary, they stumble across the cursed tomb of long-dead sorcerer-king Ossaru and his faithful alien servitor Nioth Korghai. However, the corpses have long since evolved into something else, and the two men are killed by the creature for violating its resting place

Publication History[]

"The Tomb-Spawn" was first published in the May 1934 edition of Weird Tales. It has since been reprinted in a multitude of periodicals and anthologies, and has been translated into French, Dutch and German.
