The Vagrant was an amateur press publication edited and published by W. Paul Cook from 1915-27.[1] It was the first outlet for several of Lovecraft's stories, including "Dagon", sometimes considered the first Cthulhu Mythos story,[2] which appeared in the November 1919 issue, and "The Statement of Randolph Carter", the first appearance of the recurring character Randolph Carter, which came out in May 1920. Other Lovecraft stories that appeared first in The Vagrant include the juvenilia "The Beast in the Cave" (June 1918), "The Tomb" (March 1922), and (with Winifred V. Jackson) "The Green Meadow" (Spring 1927).
