Lovecraft's works directly. The Titus Crow series, sometimes referred to as The Cthulhu Cycle Deities series, is a Cthulhu Mythos story arc by noted British author Brian Lumley. It comprises six novels and eleven short stories featuring the eponymous protagonist Titus Crow and those allied with him against the forces of the Great Old Ones, primarily Ithaqua, but including several other Mythos entities.

The books are heavily influenced by the interpretation of the Mythos forwarded by August Derleth, even citing his elemental classifications for the Great Old Ones, and are pulpish battles between good versus evil where the heroes triumph as often as fail. It also introduces good counterparts to the Great Old Ones in the Elder Gods, including Kthanid, who is Cthulhu's brother. The books also introduced the Chthonians, terrifying squid-like worms and their own Great Old One, Shudde M'ell.
