The Triffids are bio-engineered organisms created by John Wyndham for his 1951 novel The Day of the Triffids and later incorporated into the Cthulhu Mythos by Chaosium in their Call of Cthulhu role-playing game (which book?).

Description[]

The Triffids are hostile plants with a straight stem from which its mouth appears and four stick-like protrusions which they use as legs.

The Triffids were theorised to have been the result of a scientific program - possibly Soviet - but their seeds have spread throughout the world. They can grow in any environment, but take four to five years to mature.
