"Venice Burning" is a short Cthulhu Mythos story by Canadian author A. C. Wise. It was first published in the Innsmouth Free Press anthology Future Lovecraft in November 2011.
Synopsis[]
Ara is a hunter who specialises in finding people in a world in which sunken R'lyeh has risen and forever transformed the entire history of the human race. Engaged to find the son of a missing senator, a man named Marco, she uses her altered physiology to travel through time in search of her target, while confronting her own demons. When eventually Ara finds Marco, she is forced to make a choice on whether to continue to survive or, as Marco has chosen, face a long-awaited oblivion.

Since its first appearance, "Venice Burning" has also been included in the thematic anthology Apotheosis: Stories of Human Survival After the Rise of the Elder Gods by Simian Publishing in October 2015.
In January 2013, a reading was featured on the digital audio magazine Pseudopod.
