Wayne Douglas Barlowe (born January 6, 1958) is an American science fiction and fantasy illustrator, film concept designer, and author; probably most well-known for his book Expedition: Being an Account in Words and Artwork of the 2358 A.D. Voyage to Darwin IV (1990); which was later made into the documentary Alien Planet (2005).

Barlowe illustrated and wrote about the Elder Things in Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials (1979), an the Gugs in Barlowe's Guide to Fantasy (1996).

He also designed the Lovecraft-inspired Harbingers, their artifact and their city for J. Michael Straczynski's Babylon 5: Thirdspace (1998); and the Ogdru Jahad for Guillermo del Toro's Hellboy (2004).
