Professor Wingate Peaslee is a character created by Howard Phillips Lovecraft for his novella The Shadow Out of Time. He has since been expanded upon by several authors, perhaps most notably Brian Lumley in his Titus Crow series of Mythos novels.

In Lovecraft's Work[]

In The Shadow Out of Time, Peaslee was a Miskatonic University professor and the son of Nathaniel Wingate Peaslee, also a Miskatonic professor. He is described by his father as "the only member of my family who stuck to me after my queer amnesia of long ago, and the man best informed on the inner facts of my case."

Titus Crow[]

In Lumley's Titus Crow series, Peaslee is now a member of the Wilmarth Foundation, an organisation dedicated to combating the forces of the Cthulhu Mythos on Earth. He is a key figure in the Foundation's highly-successful Great Britain Project, an operation dedicated to clearing these entities from the British Isles. Peaslee's primary participation in this endeavour was his plan to destroy the entity known as Cgfthgnm'o'th.

In Other Works[]

In Peter Rawlik's short story "Cold War, Yellow Fever" features Colonel Doctor Peaslee, a senior covert operations commander with the United States military who specialises in dealing with contagion.
