"Wunderwaffe" is a short story by American author Jeffrey Thomas, set in his futuristic Punktown milieu. It was first published in the Dark Regions Press anthology World War Cthulhu in August 2014 [1].
The story forms the third and final part of a short series involving the alien god Ugghiutu, although due to publishing delays was actually the first to be released.
Synopsis[]
On a distant planet in the far future, a squad of human soldiers are assigned to protect a group of aliens against an extremist sect who are in the reprocess of summoning their dark god Ugghiutu. The aliens, literal living books created to combat this very threat, are successful in their task, but must pay a heavy price.
