Yamil Zacra is a fictional star created by the late American author Clark Ashton Smith for his 1933 story fragment "The Infernal Star". It was later mentioned by John W. Patterson in his 1999 short story "Priestess of Nycrama", which was inspired by Smith's earlier work.
Overview[]
Smith reveals little about Yamil Zacra, other than that it is part of a binary star system along with its sister Yuzh, that the two are orbited by the planet Pnidleethon, and that it is somehow bound to a sorcerous amulet (CIRCLE: "The Infernal Star").
Although Patterson makes mention of Yamil Zacra in "Priestess of Nycrama", it plays no real part in the story, and no new information is revealed.
Behind the Mythos[]
In his afterword to the digital edition of "Priestess of Nycrama", Patterson states that Yamil Zacra is one of the "fantastic names and places … [which inspired] me to write".
