The H.P. Lovecraft Wiki

This subject contains information from the "Lovecraft Circle" Myth Cycles, and while guided by HPL are not based on his work alone. Yuzh is a fictional star first mentioned by the late American author Clark Ashton Smith in his unfinished 1933 story "The Infernal Star".

Overview[]

In his story fragment, Smith reveals almost nothing of Yuzh, save than that it is a binary star in partnership with its sister Yamil Zacra, and that the two are orbited by the planet Pnidleethon (CIRCLE: "The Infernal Star").

John W. Patterson later states Yuzh to have become the prison for the soul of the monstrous being Nycrama after its death at the hands of Endura/Avrenim, although how or why this is the case is left unexplained (EXP: "Priestess of Nycrama").

Behind the Mythos[]

In his afterword to the digital edition of "Priestess of Nycrama", Patterson states Yuzh is one of the "fantastic names and places … [which inspired] me to write".
